Software Support Technician

Location: United Kingdom
The Software Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring and troubleshooting multiple software packages on multiple platforms.  This includes all Spectrum proprietary software, such as V-display, Ultra-Link II, Wall-d, Alpha-net +, Ultra Data, ULS, VectraVu, and associated programs for acquiring data from various platforms and systems.  This position will also be responsible for understanding the characteristics of all associated equipment for the software, including wallboards, plasma screens, wiring, and network interfacing units.

General Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic Networking fundamentals
         - LAN, WAN, TCP/IP basics
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows Operating system, Win 2000, XP, and Server class
  • Exposure to Linux, or Unix Operating systems
         - User and File Permissions
         - Able to navigate in a command line environment
         - Familiarity with VI editor a must
  • Customer Service experience
         - Previous Help Desk experience a plus
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends when pre-scheduled

This position is for a technical support technician operating in a HELP DESK environment for the telecom industry.  You will be working with telecom professionals on various types of systems including, Siemens, Avaya, Nortel, Cisco, etc.  This position supports software and configurations for controlling LED wallboards, Plasma Displays, Emulators, Web Pages, various interfaces, XML and installation of various software packages in the Windows/Unix environments.

This position also requires the ability to learn new applications and assist in developmental feedback on possible buys, defects, or enhancements of existing applications.
